If you are going to include your child in the selection of her lamp, do a bit of pre-shopping. Lamp choices can be daunting to an adult, but they be overwhelming to a child, whether the child is 5 or 15. Over and over again, we have watched moms lead their under-10 year old child to our stores "Kids" section, ask the child which lamp he likes, then try to talk the child out of his selection, because it does not fit the space or decor of the room.
However, even from a very young age children want to sit and concentrate on an activity with pens, textas and crayons. By getting your child a desk, this will prevent them drawing or possibly vandalising items of furniture in the home because kids love to draw!
Too many times, we hve watched moms try to gently explain to a 12 year old that the $450 lamp she is just fallen in love with is not in the family budget. Too many times, we have watched as mother and 16 year old daughter try to balance the selection of a chrome and glass ultra contemporary lamp with the Country French furnishings of the daughters room.

When shopping, keep in mind a few important factors to reach your decision. First, keep in mind the spacing available in the house and your childs age. For toddlers you will want to make sure that the desk is solid and sturdy. For older children you want to make sure that things are solid enough for use but it is also flexible enough to meet their needs. For example, a pre-teen might want a keyboard roll out tray to play computer games or a storage compartment for school books.
Kids desks will give your children the opportunity to have a place to get their creative juices flowing and at the same time will offer mom and dad the space that they need to get their things done.
